⪼ Role of the school within the project

Agrupamento de Escolas Padre Benjamim Salgado is a cluster of schools, including students from pre-school to upper secondary level, and VET education. It also offers adult education by providing special training in several areas, but also via the Accreditation and Validation of competences acquired throughout adults’ personal and working experiences.
In this project, the students involved in the activities are upper secondary level pupils, whose target is to finish their secondary studies and go on to higher education. They are currently studying Science and Technology, Economics and Management, and Languages and Social Studies.
Our curricula is highly academic, with few subjects having an experimental component. However, teachers and students volunteer to develop projects or clubs, and in this way they are able to add a practical ingredient to their studies, while they improve other skills, like collaboration and digital knowledge. Sometimes, they participate in national and international competitions, and some of them have already been awarded.

Examples of Projects or Clubs: Renewable Energies, CTEAM, EcoSchools, AgroTec, Science4all, European Club.
Another activity they can join in Parlamento dos Jovens - Youngsters' Parliament, a national innitative, developed in several stages, from local to regional and national, providing students the opportunity to discuss ideas which involve our community or the country, as they foster their abilities of critical and creative thinking, arguing, addressing a live audience and dealing with different perspectives.
For this Erasmus+ project, our contribution will rely on the activities planned by our teachers in their everyday teaching, but also on the activities performed by those students who are involved in the aforementioned projects and clubs, which have been recognised as good practices.
Therefore we will:

  • - Create the Facebook and Instagram accounts, sharing it with all partners
  • - Disseminate the results of the work being carried out at local and regional level
  • - Share good practices developed in our school in several domains, especially regarding the use of webtools or active methodologies, like project-based learning, flipped classroom
  • - Participate in virtual labs
  • - Participate in virtual meetings with presentations related to the topics being approached
  • - Participate in debates about the use of ICT in teaching and learning, both in face to face lessons or online lessons
  • - Use several webtools, in accordance to the goals previouly defined
